Contract A: Traffic

Needwood Road - Contract A

Northbound and southbound traffic along Needwood Road shifts onto a new adjacent temporary road as construction continues for the Intercounty Connector (ICC). The temporary road, between Muncaster Mill Road (MD 115) and Beach Drive, is approximately 1,000 feet in length. At least one lane along Needwood Road will remain open during the shift. This new alignment will be in place until approximately October 2009 and is necessary to construct the new Needwood Road Bridge over the ICC.

Redland Road - Contract A

Northbound and southbound traffic lanes along Redland Road shift onto a adjacent temporary road. The shift begins approximately 200 feet south of the Nedham Road/Founders Mill Road intersection and continues south for approximately 850 feet. This alignment will be in place until approximately March 2009 and is necessary to construct the Redland Road Bridge over the ICC.  

Georgia Avenue (MD 97) - Contract A

The lanes of traffic along northbound MD 97 shift into the widened median area adjacent to MD 97 starting at Thistlebridge Drive. Motorists return back to the existing northbound MD 97 just south of Bachelors Forrest Road, a distance of less than one-quarter mile. Northbound MD 97 continues to carry three through lanes; no lanes will be blocked, all through lanes and access to side streets will be open. This traffic alignment will be in place until approximately February  2009 and is necessary to allow construction of the MD 97 Bridge over the ICC.
