Current Activities

Norbeck Road

  • Erosion & Sediment Controls
  • Utility Relocations (WSSC water and sanitary sewer, PEPCO, Verizon, Comcast, Washington Gas)
  • Grading Work
  • Excavation of embankment west of Norbeck Road
  • Traffic switch and temporary signalization (anticipated December 2009)
  • Reforestation- 8 acres (more than 1700 trees)

Longmead Crossing Drive

  • Pile driving and support of excavation for bridge construction
  • Utility Relocations and tie ins (WSSC)
  • Grading Work

Layhill Road/MD 182

  • Erosion & Sediment Controls
  • Begin mainline pipe/culvert work
  • Permanent bridge substructure construction, including pile driving to build bridge foundation

Bonifant Road/Northwest Branch

  • Complete erosion and sediment controls
  • Installation of haul roads for construction access
  • Utility relocations & tie-ins (WSSC water)
  • Pile driving to build bridge foundations
  • Bridge substructure construction, including bridge columns and caps

Notley Road

  • Stream diversion and installation of erosion and sediment controls
  • Clearing of trees and brush
  • Utility relocations (WSSC water, PEPCO, Verizon, Comcast)

New Hampshire Ave/MD 650

  • Installation of erosion & sediment controls
  • Utility Relocations - PEPCO, Comcast, Verizon, Montgomery County (signals, 911)
  • Bridge construction, including pile driving to build bridge foundations
  • Cape May Road - Permanently CLOSED to MD650 access, cul de sac construction
  • Reforestation – 3 acres south of ICC alignment (126 trees)

East of New Hampshire Ave (Special Protection Area - SPA)

  • Start of major construction activities anticipated in December
  • Clearing of trees and brush
  • Installation of erosion & sediment controls
  • Soil Investigation/Soil Borings
