Contract D
Project Details
Detailed neighborhood-by-neighborhood maps of Contract D. Note: Maps are subject to change due to design refinements.
Overview
Contract D will build 3.0 miles of collector-distributor lanes that straddle I-95 from north of the ICC to Brooklyn Bridge, in Prince George's County. In addition, Contract D will resurface 4.9 miles of I-95 and will follow Contracts A, C, and B.

Key Neighborhood and Environmental Features
Contract D, while comprised predominantly of I-95 collector-distributor roads, includes wetlands, stormwater management, and environmental features along the frontage of a major development called Konterra and communities along MD 198. Environmental features within Contract D include:
- Stormwater management ponds adjacent to I-95, Bear Branch stream, and MD 198.
- Sound wall construction and reconstruction in the area of the MD 198 interchange.
One new bridge will be built in Contract D, the westbound structure of the proposed dual structure Contee Road interchange. The bridge will compliment the surrounding area and similar to those built in Contract C.
To minimize community impacts, major effort will be made to ensure work schedules, noise, dust, haul routes, maintenance of vehicular and pedestrian traffic, staging areas, retaining walls and employee parking are developed in keeping the quality of life of the of local communities.
Community Communication
The ICC project team is committed to ongoing open communication with affected communities while the highway is designed and built. The team will make every major effort to keep impacts on local communities to a minimum, including minimizing construction noise and dust and maintaining local vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

Travel Benefits
The north-south collector-distributor lanes straddling I-95 north of the ICC will provide direct access to the ICC. For traffic entering and leaving the ICC from the Laurel and Burtonsville area, Contract D will facilitate smooth and safer transitions from MD 198, the future connection with Contee Road/I-95 interchange.
The ICC project includes funding to implement the results of a currently-underway study of east-west transit on the ICC.
Timeline

- Contract D will be scheduled so that completion of the collector-distributor lanes coincides with the opening of the full ICC late 2011.
- The anticipated start and completion of Contract D will be posted when established.
