Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA)

The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) owns, operates and maintains all of Maryland’s toll facilities. Upon completion of construction, the Intercounty Connector (ICC) will become part of MDTA’s transportation system as Maryland’s eighth toll facility. MDTA is comprised of:

  • Eight citizen Members appointed by the Governor – and confirmed by the Senate – and chaired by the Secretary of Transportation

    The Board Members of the MDTA are:

    • Rev. Dr. William C. Calhoun, Sr.
    • Mary Beyer Halsey
    • Richard C. Mike Lewin
    • Michael J. Whitson
    • Louise P. Hoblitzell
    • Isaac H. Marks, Sr.
    • Walter E. Woodford, Jr., P.E.
  • An Executive Secretary, Ronald L. Freeland, who oversees daily operations
  • A team of 1,700 employees, including a 500-member nationally accredited police force

The MDTA owns, operates, and maintains all of Maryland’s toll facilities

  • William Preston Lane Jr. Memorial (Bay) Bridge (US 50/301) – 4.3 miles
  • Francis Scott Key Bridge (I-695) – 10.3 miles
  • Baltimore Harbor Tunnel (I-895) – 1.4 miles
  • Fort McHenry Tunnel (I-95) – 2 miles
  • John F. Kennedy Memorial Highway (I-95) – 48 miles
  • Thomas J. Hatem Memorial Bridge (US 40) – 1.3 miles
  • Governor Harry W. Nice Memorial Bridge (US 301) – 1.7 miles
  • Intercounty Connector (MD 200)

**coming Fall 2010** - *Contract A 5.5 miles (tolled portion)
**coming late 2011 / early 2012 - Contracts A, B, and C - 17.3 miles (toll portion)
